Additions & Addictions

Do you ever sit and think about the different titles and blogs you can write? I have had a few running through my head lately. Here is one of them. There has been a lot happening lately so I thought I would finally let you know about them.

~ Additions ~
My first real diamonds! My adoptive parents, John and Betty Dustin, gave them to me for my 30th birthday. The necklace I wore for my 30th birthday (not real diamonds). Oh, you may have caught the other addition that took place recently. I turned 30 last Monday. I had a great day and was able to celebrate with a couple of friends. The 25th was my first day off in a month and couldn't be timed better. It was a gorgeous morning which brings me to my next addition, my car. I finally have some pictures to show. This was taken just after washing it. Had to make sure it was nice and shiny before debuting it on my blog. Now I just have to come up with a name. Maybe if I name it, this one will stick around longer then the other two. Any suggestions? While I was washing my car a thunderstorm decided it was going to roll in. It hit about 30 minutes after I finished. It's kind of hard to see in the picture but you can see the beginning. The hummingbirds weren't distracted by the storm until it hit full force. You can barely see the hummer sitting on the branch hanging down in the left of the picture. Don't strain you eyes trying to find it though. Unfortunately the bright orange one wouldn't sit still long enough for me to take a picture. The last of my additions are to my patio. A solar lantern with a hummingbird design. And Irises!!! I've also added a new do to the list of additions. Sorry no pictures yet, they will come soon.

~ Addictions ~
At dinner for my 30th birthday I made a bet with one of my friends. I have gained quite a bit of weight again due to drinking pop. Our bet is that the first one to drink a pop has to buy the other dinner. So far I have stayed away and have started to lose the weight again. While I haven't had headaches from the lack of caffeine I can still feel the effect on my body. My chiropractor likes to say that my body goes into complete rebellion when I quit drinking pop. I can feel that rebellion now.

Miffed

I wanted to find a nice way of saying that something really irritates me without cussing. So, miffed, that's what I settled on. It's not a word I usually use but it fits the bill today. I have worked at two jobs now where somebody has walked off during their shift without even saying that they were leaving. No consideration for the fact that it makes somebody else do their job on top of what they are already doing. No consideration for the fact that the person who now has to do the two jobs is already working over 40 hours a week on top of school. No consideration for the customers we are serving and how it causes them to wait longer. How everybody now has to juggle their schedules to pick up the slack. Now, I am a firm believer that you should enjoy your job. Life is too short to be stuck in a job you absolutely hate. However, I'm also a strong believer that you don't just run out when people are depending on you. Give your notice so they can find a replacement. Yes, I will have to stick with miffed. :{

What a weekend

So, this weekend has been crazy and very frustrating! What has happened you may ask.

1. It's finals week and I have lots of work to do.

2. My computer decided it was going to crash Friday a little bit before I had to go to work.

3. Try to fix my computer by running the backup Friday night.

4. Backup actually crashes my computer even more Saturday morning taking all of the files with it.

5. Go shopping Saturday morning for a new computer and get home just in time to quickly get it out of the box and put together, then off to work.

6. Saturday night order the Microsoft program that I need.

7. Try to activate the trial program already on the computer, receive the message that the activation system is offline for maintenance, try again in a few minutes.

8. Still trying to activate trial and it's now Monday afternoon...grrr. There are no help numbers I can call and it just keeps telling me to check my internet connection, to try again in a few minutes.

9. My dad, who hasn't talked to me in over a year, decided he was going to call me last night and let me know he asked his girlfriend (who he had never told me about, yes I knew because my sister's had told me) to marry him. Then he proceeded to ask me if I wanted to talk to her so we could get to know each other.

10. She started the conversation with "You're the one I haven't met yet." I really wanted to reply with, "You're the one my dad has never told me about," but restrained my sarcastic side. I simply replied with, "Yes, unfortunately I don't get home very often."

11. Still getting the stupid message to try again. Can you tell I'm a little frustrated?

12. I've been trying to get ahold of Unemployment Services to let them know I got a job and can't get ahold of them. I've been trying for over a week and it is always busy.

13. I took a friend her birthday gift last night and her daughter showed me how to get their dog to calm down. They has a gorgeous cocker spaniel who loves to jump up on you (which I personally am not fond of). She clipped a mylar balloon onto the dog's collar. She ran around the house for a few laps and then realized if she layed still the balloon would quit chasing her. I was laughing so hard.

Job Update

I have been putting quite a few applications and resumes out in the field. While waiting I have been subbing at the local elementary a few days a week and still continue to work 15 hours at the store. During school on Wednesday I got a call from the one place I had an interview since looking for a job, Cardinal True Value Hardware. They offered me a position in their lawn and garden section! I start tomorrow and am so excited. On a side note, it snowed here today after a wonderful week of 60+, almost 40 degree weather....ugh.

10 Reasons I'm Ready for Summer...

1. these ice packs. What you are looking at are ice packs that I have to use everyday to ease the pain. One is about 2 1/4 feet by 1 1/2 feet. The other is made for my neck and is a little longer but not quite as big. Both are pretty heavy and very, very cold!

I'm ready for the hot summer weather where I can use these to cool off instead of freeze. I usually use 3 blankets to wrap up in when laying on these right now.

2. my first niece is due in June!

3. sun almost every day!

4. prospects of more jobs!

5.

6. the last class for my special ed endorsement starts in May!

7. Memorial Day...something about the number 30.

8. flowers without having to buy them. 9. walking outdoors all the time.

10. + = hours of relaxation!
